Suitable "Summer" Clothing
Hi All,
So far, all of my RIB experience has been in relatively cool weather (i.e. most of the year) and my kit reflects this, being warm (although breathable) and "all-covering". It looks like this year though, there's a risk that I'll be starting to get more opportunity to play when the sun is actually shining (I'll hopefully catch both warm days of the UK summer!  ) and I think my current gear will be too warm.
Can anyone recommend what I should be looking at for UK summer RIB-ing, please? I would want something fully waterproof (this is England, after all) but something where I won't bake if it comes out nice.

If you pop into musto etc in the outlet village in Swindon there will be loads of stuff to choose from, quick drying shorts are good. Also Teva sandals or similar that you don't mind getting wet. I've been using a musto br1 jacket this summer and also a splash top.
Gooutdoors sell trek mates wide brim hats for a few quid that have a strap under the neck.

I've a lightweight sailing jacket from Decathalon that I use along with a pair of Musto membrane shorts.
If it's not nice enough for that then it's the dry trousers and offshore jacket which can always be removed if the sun decides to come out.

Neoprene rock boots instead of sandals here-If it gets cold you won't get really cold and they're very useful for scrambling ashore.
Quick dry clothing is a no-brainer, as is a decent size brimmed hat with a retaining cord (unless you don't mind doing 2 or 3 'Hat Overboard' drills a day)
Ignore Whisper when he suggests his Mankini. It's not a pretty sight.

I already have a good hat, and will be paying the Musto shop a visit, since I'm currently home for the week!

Crocs on the feet, light cargo pant/shorts on the legs, t-shirt/shirt and a baseball cap on top.
I have a pair of lightweight waterproofs in console and I usually carry a dry bag with warm clothes like thicker trousers/hoodie top, sealskin beenie/gloves/socks etc on board. It's amazing how small a dry bag you need for a change of clothes.
If there is one thing I've learnt about West Coast weather is NEVER try and second guess it, cover all bases.

Reminds me of when I was recruiting in a previous life after a whole day of interviewing the very PC hr director asked me how I had got on . I said really well I have taken on a fat ,black ,disabled ,lesbian from out the EU . I went on to explain that this meant no more ticking boxes for the rest of the interviews .
When she finally came round she was non to pleased . I think I got half way home before my director phoned me !!
