Stop Press I am happy with my re tube

With all the bad threads on re tubing I thought I would write a quick not to say that I have just had my Scorpion 6.5 re tubed by Ribripair in lymington and they have done a stunning job.

The tubes were made by Henshaw and Ribripair fitted them it only took 5 days work to take old tubes off and fit new tubes on. I may be paying a bit more than some off the other companys mentioned on this forum but I feel it is money well spent I realy am that happy about them.

Here are contact details http://www.ribrepair.com/

happy boating

Simon

Scott Braye and Rib Repair also come highly recommended by me, he did some work on my old RIB, couldn't fault it, dropped the boat with him, went on holiday for 2 weeks and then collected it, very good price too.

I can't recommend Scott more highly, he did a brilliant job on my tired looking grey tubes by overlaying the topsides with a yellow decorative layer. Now looking great.

Great to hear another recommendation for Scott. His workmanship is well known and he's always in demand.

He he...

I often feel you southern folks live in a different world to me. I paid Humber about 8k for my 8.5 hull and tubes. Of course, Scorp owners enjoy being taken for a ride....see what I did there...

'course we live in a different world.

You're a beardie weirdie drinking real ale, listening to folk music whilst carving out a mermaid for the new bowsprit on your self-build whilst your wife stitches new elbow patches on your best corduroy jacket.

I'm sitting here sipping the remains of a bottle of Bolly whilst Louise paints her toenails reclining on the designer sofa in our penthouse apartment. I need a supplier who can deliver a quality job, right first time, on time.

And if you believe a single word of that...

Ah... you got me!

But seriously, there's a question of comparing like for like here. If I remember correctly, one of the first jobs you did on the Humber was to cut out the floor to fit the fuel tanks? And you commented that it was frightening to observe how little there was below deck - ie no stringers, no longitudinals, no bracing for the hull.

And are your tubes one piece or sectional?

Jeff.

Either you have a typo there, incredible negotiating skills or inflation is higher than I thought! Apparently an 8.5m humber (no engine) has a RRP of £22k.

the advert doesn't say - just says "open deck" in the "seating/layout" box so sounds like hull and tubes. But there is a slightly smaller one listed with a RRP of £22.5k with the following spec: Dual cruise console c/w low level windscreen, upholstered twin front seat and back pad, Sea Star steering, 2 x One man extreme jockey seat moudles. Tube specfication 1100dtx fabric, pressure relief valves, 7 air chambers, external life lines & grab handles, reinforced bow. Under deck 200 litre fuel tank, under deck cable trunking. Additional seating available upon request That boat is on sale for about £17k... so thats a lot of money for minimal fitting out!

Correct.

It's reassuring to know you too suffer from senior moments. I did not say that and I knew exactly what was under the floor. It would be a bit foolhardy to cut just anywhere with a chainsaw. You could do with revisiting the build thread.

Is that significant?
