RIBase
I really hope this gets recovered, and I know its not going to help but like others I am so glad I have the tracker so I could find it myself

A few years ago another ribnet member not far from you had his ribeye stolen... Off his drive.... It was found in a field not far away minus the motor and trailer... Worth a drive round some country lanes for a hour or two to look for it.

Don't give up on making a claim. Pm me if you want to chat about the side.

Pete

Why don't you start a new thread about 'trackers' , starting with what you have and why you decided on that one (+ cost) ?

It could result in a few RIBs being recovered.

RIBase
Its been discussed heavily on here over the years. The only problem I have is that the product I have is coming end of life in a few years, but its brilliant. I have the Garmin GTU10. I installed it 2 years ago and haven't touched it since I have the iPhone app so I can see where it is any time, follow it, get email, sms notifications.

My ears are burning! I paid a deposit for the rib that got stolen, I didn't steal it! I am gutted as I had booked it in for a service with the local dealer and it was a nice rib. I have subsequently bought another rib. I am not sure it would have been a great plan to give all my details to the seller and pay a deposit to steal it later on! The police have been given my details but they haven't bothered to contact me.

You can pick up trackers for <20 now on fleabay... Would be curious if people have experience...

While tracking doesn't garuntee recovery it seems like it might stand a better chance than a clamp that takes 20 seconds to remove..

snow sports,

I put in my comment because a few comments were made about the buyer picking up the boat early, which I did not like.

I was more than 100% sure that you were just as shocked as I was when I informed you the boat was stolen. Obviously I am still very peed off the boat has gone but also disappointed as I knew the boat was going to be looked after by its next owner.

Rgds

I have one of these:
TK103 B Car Vehicle Real time Spy GPS Tracker Remote Control | eBay
I added a shock sensor:
NEW!!Shock sensor shake sensor for GPS tracker GPS103A,B,TK103A,TK103B,best qual | eBay
And mounted it i a water tight plastic box with a gland for the power cable.
The device is set to sleep until it detects vibration then it will text my phone with the alarm description and its google map link location.
Then i can track it live for this website (for free)...
GPS-Trace Orange 2.0
It works amazingly well and has so far been 100% reliable.
The unit runs from the boat's battery, but if disconnected it will run from its own internal battery for a day or two.

I use a giffgaff SIM card. Its costs nothing to run unless it texts you an alarm (6 pence).
If you wish to have live GPRS tracking on permantly it costs 20p a day in data, but this will also increase battery drain so not ideal if you dont use the boat for a couple of weeks.

My boss is so impressed we have been trialing one in our delivery van for the last 2 months, and now i've bought 10 more to fit in our fleet vehicles.
