Have you see the official prices of 2nd hand outboards? The amount the trade CLAIM they are worth is a joke. My Suzuki DT225 is prob officially worth 2000 if I am lucky - in practice I have older ones sell for 4k - 6k - they take no account of hours or what the market is really worth.

A classic example are newish small 2 strokes - they go for silly money now but I bet an insurance company will value them as worthless!!!

Apparently that only covers total loss of the whole boat and engine - if just the engine is nicked the stupid valuations apply!!!
