stepped hulls?

i was in a rib race and i so the winnning ribs were all stepped ... but all tourist category
none was made only for racing..
and thinking now to get one... but what are the differences in the rough sea of stepped and none steps?
they told me that sonner or later every company will do their boats with steps
is that true?

Stepped hulls tend to run flat. They are not a new idea - they have been around since about 1880. If you look at an old flying boat or seaplane you will see what I mean.

They run much flatter than normal boat which is great if it is not too rough but in bigger waves you are better off with a normal hull.

Well maybe 1900 but about that sort of time. They were actually banned in some races in 1920!!!
