Steering Seized

Then I suppose we ought to have a go at doing the seized cable! With a decent sledge hammer and careful tapping will do it with someone holding a 3/8 drive 12 inch extension with some molegrips will do the job.. Tell Pete,, no no no to pussy tonite and get swinging!

Thanks to PeterM who gave up his Saturday afternoon to come give me a hand, we cut the other end off and whacked it out from the other end but after easily an hour it was only back to its original position and we both decided it was time for a different idea.


Ended up taking the tilt tube off and sticking a socket extension in its place just to hold the motor in place. The tube is now sitting in a bucket of petrol for a couple of days before I take it over a mates with a hydraulic press to press it out (hopefully)


In the meantime theres a new (2nd hand) steering system in its place ready to go in once weve got the old ram out.

Sod that, buy a new tilt tube. It'll make it sooo much easier.

Agreed. It's good that the whole tube came out. That's usually the problem. They don't. Hydraulic press and heat should work, but you've bathed lot in petrol so be careful.
