Having been stopped by customs in France ( Saint-Quay-Portrieux ) they were not interested in the fact I had the SSR number on the boat, rather did I have my SSR passport.

As it happended it was in the same bag as my passport; at home .

They weren't concerned about my passport but were happy to take 100 off me for not having the SSR passport .

So make sure you have the passport and your ICC with you

Regards

Mark

Where is the online SSR site?

Hello Martin (Osprey Viper)

Can you advise of the site location for the online SSR applications.

My position is that I have bought a boat secondhand which already has an SSR number (in the correct size letters!).

Can I simply pay a transfer charge and re-register the 'small ship' to me?

And I would assume that they would then send out a new SSR passport?

Any comments apreciated

Thanks Paul

Hi Paul. The online registration is here . They will then send you your registration certificate. We reregistered our boat which we bought second-hand. IIRC it costs 12. HTH.

Paul, unless I'm mistaken you've purchased gingercoastie's Humber... congratulations, a great RIB!

If it helps, we re-registered our RIB and retained the same SSR which saves sticking new stickers!

Have not done SSR cos I am tight! 12 for what? Please explain the advantages of the bureaucracy. Have CG66 which is free and I understand the benefit.

Bruce, have a look here. The main reason is probably that it is necessary if you intend to take Farfetched abroad. IIRC, Mark Wildey posted a while ago to say that it was only the SSR that the French authorities were interested in.

Looking forward to seeing you, Jo & Joshua again soon!
