Here she is back in January, a bit cleaner but still "before" any true refurb work...

Then after 24hrs of elbow grease with fairy power spray... we sneeked into Wayne Maddox's workshop to crane off the engine for new mounts and a full rebuild.

Whilst in there local tube man Darren came along and worked his magic.

Here she is tonight in our workshop being stripped for various repairs and bits. Ant will be along shortly to tell you what's planned but as he can't drive / hasn't got a car the boat will live afloat and so antifoul and if it can be squeezed in a bilge well are on the cards. I expect the flooding hull will need blocking up too.

This is the first boat i have owned thanks to dan hawks I'm an apprentice shipwright for 3 years now, so thought it was time to start a project.
this is my JOB LIST
>spray the console and seat
>have the seat re-upholsterd.
>anti foul the bottom as i am keeping it in the harbour where i work (Ramsgate)
>glass a sump in the back to fit a bildge pump
>polish transom and fill any un wanted holes
>temporarily bung up flooding hull so nothing grows inside
>put a battery up front
>run new trunk to front for batt leads, fuel, steering, throttles, switches. etc etc etc.....


maybe fit an A frame. any thoughts??

>spray the console and seat - You don't have to spray it, you can rub it down with wet and dry but that staining will be quite deep so it's lot's of work.

>have the seat re-upholsterd - Yep do it yourself if you can, just find someone with a sewing machine, it really is easy.

>glass a sump in the back to fit a bildge pump - there is a wooden batten the runs under the deck along the transom, it's only about 1" wide though and watch out for the air tanks, not a lot of room under there...

>temporarily bung up flooding hull so nothing grows inside - if you cut a bilge you can permanently fill the flooding hull from the inside and fit a bung, you just need to fill the front holes too.

i am going to spray it as it won't take as long, i have some 2 pac international left over from a job , the transom on the other hand i will use cutting compound to bring colour back.

i have a friend who can re cover seat for me after i make a new base, i am also going to make it easyer to remove, will put a pic up once i have done that.

i will blank the hull of empty so it will get up on the plane nice and easy, won't be staying still for to long (i hope haha)

any thoughts on an A frame?? thinking for all round white and maybe VHF arial, even ski off.

You may find an A-Frame adds too much weight to the back end of an SR4. If it's just for nav lights stick your steaming and stern light on a pole attached to the transom, and put a bicolour on the front of the console.

I keep my 4m afloat and don't get anything growing inside the flooding hull.
Only have 30hp and acceleration is still good - I'm not sure why anyone would want to block off the flooding hull.
I don't have a bilge pump - a quick run with the elephants trunk down every couple of weeks gets the water out.
(Actually I bought a pump and level switch but decided to keep things simple - thinking a bilge pump would just flatten the battery!)

Searider- how Long have you been in the water?? Very happy that I don't have to block up the hull

I also keep mine afloat unblocked. I figured how ever well I sealed it up some water would get in and being afloat it would be difficult to get out plus dragging a ton or so of water around might slow it down a bit!

With the elephant trunk down and 3/4 throttle both above and below the deck empties in about 29sec anyway.
