Wasn't a jibe. Sticking wet/dirty fuel into "redundant" tanks is a risk most take - doesn't make it a good idea. In fairness, twin tanks are probably more to combat a burst weld or fuel line.

The point about two engines reducing your chances of going to sea was a serious one too. Two engines mean twice the chance of coming home under your own steam, but twice the chance of a no-go failure at the launch too...

Haaaahahahaha willk's a sage

Is he venerated as well?

FWIW, my old SR4 used to move acceptably and steer in calm weather with a 2hp Evinrude aux (once it stopped giving me HT shocks, for any that remember me trying it out and cursing a lot in Southampton water)

In a word - Yes!

As an aside, there are a whole ranage of thin wee engines that have over the years carried just about every manufacturer's paint job & go form 1 to 3.5 HP. Go as big as you can - when you are in displacement mode the more HP the better.

Also for an SR4 you'll ned a long shaft.

That is taking things to the extreme, especially as if the fuel is that bad it will konk out near the shore, and as you won't be welching through the spare engine's fuel it will have been bought at a different time or place anyway.

Also as you have multiple portable tanks like me, the trick is to use them in rotation, which solves that problem nicely.

For an aux, you don't. The prop will be in clear water with a shortshaft. I used one on mine.
