Hello Alan

I can do the stickers myself for next to no cost and then it's just postage so Im not worried about the cost, and what the heck....you only live once!

As for the return ones we'll wait and see how you get on!!!!!

Now, what about it John, can we use the Ribnet logo?

Cheers

Keith (there and back again) Hart

That's fine with me! I can send you the Windows fonts that are used if you need them, or a high res tiff of the logo if you'd prefer.

The stickers are a great idea -any chance of a pennant with the Spirit logo on for the RIBs?

Keith,
Any chance of having rib.net and SOC www address's in small font in the sticker???
Are you planning on just using paper, or anything like vinyl so they can go on and stay on boats??
I can colour laser print small quantities onto ohp slides which would make it waterproof, but then not sticky. Or any ideas on getting hold of laser-printable vinyl stickers.??
Cheers,
Andy.

Hi Andy

I was planning on printing the stickers on card then putting them on clear vinyl sheets before cutting them out. They would be rather like an adhesive tax disc holder to go on the inside of the car window. I could do some laminated ones which would be waterproof but I don't know how they could be attached to a boat.

Cheers

Accomodation Options for the SOC send off: Part one.

I know some of you are sorted, others are being sorted, the rest thinking about getting sorted.

1. AP has mentioned there are 4 beds on the SOC! See AP
(not sure how serious that was, not even sure where the crew are staying - Alan P - where you staying?
2. Pride of Bristol - via Jools or myself. Still 7 berths left to date, as far as I am aware. £25.00 inc Breakfast (or see thread) She will only be in Cardiff for the Sat night...so if you were looking at staying longer, will mean moving or alternatives. Looks like the POB will be based in the Penarth Marina, but I have sorted out that the waterbus will run a later service between the Waterguard pub on Sat night and the Marina! so, no problems getting back and Jools, your tender skipper can take the night off.
3. My house - some beds, some sofas, plenty of matresses, air beds. FOC. Pretty much in walking distance for everything that w/end.Well, about 20 mintes for party send off and Marina
4. B & B - The Rock House. One choice. Not too far from Penarth Marina, but on opposite side to where pub and send off will be
See website www.rockhouse-penarth.co.uk. They only have three double rooms so quite cosy and it could be occupied by all Ribsters. Full vacancy for the whole week-end at the moment.
One room with en-suite £45.00 / night. Second dbl with room to bathroom £40.00/night; third dbl room where bathroom is via hallway and you share bathroom of second bedroom occupants is £25.00/ night. All include with breakfast. So, second and third bedroom occupants share a bathroom. I will be calling other B7B's but this one is the closest to the Marina, but a bit further away from Pub, but bear in mind, waterbus will run service as far as marina anyway sat night. Other options will be on the Cardiff side, but closer to town, thus further away from the Bay.
5. Hotels. Cardiff has more hotels than you could shake a bedsheet at.
5* St David's Hotel and Spa - if you want to go all out. £145.00/ single and £151.00 /double inc b/fast. Right on the bay and pretty central for the whole week-end. Every room has a balcony and views of the Bay.
2-3* Holiday Inn Express, Schooner Way. I think someone was asking about this one. £60.00/room/night. about 25-30 minutes walk from the Bay and the Sat pub and week-end activities. Again, not on the side of the Marina.(where your boat will be)

Will give you more options. I think people need to decide what luxury they will need, how important the partying is and proximity to it all.I have listed options in a sort of order to keep people together in groups, and with the SOC send off in mind. Obviously the hotels are a price thing.
I hope the above info helps. Will add more or if prices change - trying to get the group rate for the Holiday Inn Express - the woman is back tomorrow.
Personally, difficult to say as I do not know you lot and what type of creatures of compfort you are.
Let me know if I can help or advise.
More soon,

Sorry Nadia not quite that commendable

"I think he is on a family holiday and it is highly commendable he is making the journey on the sunday to meet the SOC"

Weekdays I work in Bucks, weekends I live by the sea !! although it does mean I will pass Cardiff on the way to collect the boat.

K,

Still think it's great you are making your way back from Cardigan Bay!

Perhaps the family room may be an option for you after all on the sunday night (Rock House B and B)

Alan P is in Cardiff today, doing a live interview at 13:30 on BBC Wales, if anyone can tune in.
(don't worry, I will get a recording of it!)

Right, gotta go some work

Hurrah, the sun is out again!!

Had a good day out with Alan P today - meetings and SCO bsuiness all day.

I can proudly announce that the Waterguard pub has now started selling the SOC cocktail!!!

The radio interview went well, AP had about 4-5 minutes live chat!
He shoulb be just about turing into his drive now as he left Cardiff at 22:30! - Hope you made it back ok.

Re launching and recovering.

Plan A - and most connvenient, and suitable, is Penarth Marina as a base.
As mentioned the more boats come down, the better chance I have of doing a deal re prices. So..let me know.

OK, back to the main topic.

Do we know how many RIBs are due to attend so far?

Any further news on launching and recovering of RIBs (need to know what times on Sunday we can be recovered - to make arrangements for getting home etc)

Also, on a slightly negative note, if they are still intending to charge £40+ each way it will obviously affect the overall decision re attendance. May even launch in Bristol and cruise down.

Would apprecate regular updates on the situation please

At last count there was about 7 Ribs plus the Pride of Bristol.

Charges at Penarth Marina could and will change, once I have confirmed numbers - the more there are, the greater chance I have of getting a better deal!

Will give you a regular update every couple of days.
(hope that is ok)

WOW

Wow, coming up to the 2500 view marks. If each view had purchased a mile we would be nearly half way on the fuel cost's. or 2 miles pays the bill in full
