Sounds like an entertaining evening!

so might well join in! I'm trying to persuade Brian to travel round to Cardiff from Torquay in Cyanide. We can then join the party in Cardiff and escort Spirit down the Bristol Channel and round the corner!

Alan

Would love to be there. Isnt that the weekend of the BIBOA Solent Cruise? - Seems a shame to split up - especially for such a big RIB occasion - couldnt the two events combine?

(Keith - if you're woried about your boat there may be room on mine)

Hi Graeme

Hey, all being well my little quicksilver will be there, I just don't want the 'big boys' taking the p***!

Cheers

Keith Hart

PS Mind you, remember the tortoise and hare story?

The 31st of March has been set in stone for 3 years, it has been publisied around the world. After saying that, having been very instrumental in setting up Biboa and heading it's cruising section for many years, the Solent event won't afffect us. Our party is for "Real Ribsters"

Hi Alan

Exactly where in Cardiff will you be leaving from, and where would be the nearest slipway?

Ref. the BIBOA angle.......

The BIBOA Easter Solent event is something of an institution and there is a bunch of people who would probably be upset if it wasn't run and who most likely wouldn't come to Cardiff whatever was happening. If they do feel they have to chose then my take would be the Spirit sendof is a once in a lifetime event and we can go cruising in the Solent anytime! That being said I am sure Jim and Yvonne Mackintosh will organise a cracking Solent cruise. (much better than my sorry effort last year I'm sure!) If indeed no-ones interested in the Solent then its hi-ho to Wales and no problems!

Although for my sins I have volunteered again to be BIBOA cruising coordinator I don't personally feel under any pressure to attend every event. Having discussed matters with Brian we are coming up with a (weather permitting) plan to run around to Cardiff from Torquay in Cyanide the day before, join the party (if nothing else to watch Toby on the pull and Allen C giving Alan P a last minute back and sides!). On the 31st we can then (if its OK with you Alan) run with Spirit to Lands End and when you head south for warmer climes we'll turn East to Torquay. Thats plan a). plan b) being to trail my RIB to Cardiff and do most of the above!

Graeme C - You will meet BIBOA members at either event and there are many more cruises planned for next year as you know, so is missing the Solent that big a deal?!

Cheers, Alan W

Alan & All

I must agree that this is a 'once in a lifetime' event - and at the moment seems to me to be the one to go for.

To be a part of this - even if only a 'hanger on' in the send off committee will, I am sure, be a memorable occasion that will be spoken of for many years to come.

I have asked for details of where they will be sailing from, and local launch points.

I hope I can be there - looking forward to meeting many of the 'legends' that post on this site.

RIBase
Alan P.
Do you mind if we (Alan Winnett, myself and "Cyanide") come on up to Cardiff the day before and then start off back somewhere near you (don't want to get blinded by all the camera flashes!) on the big day.
Do you know what time exactly you will start off?
Presumably you willl head past Lundy for Lands End and then turn towards the top left-hand corner of Spain. Or are you going into The Scillies?
IF we do come along (always weather dependant for this wimp), would any press/cameraman/other deserving soul/your mum like a ride on Cyanide. We could drop them off anywhere between Lands End and Torquay.
Toby
Would you like you come along? I could pick you up as we pass Falmouth.

To All

It looks as if this is going to be something else!

I will arrange all nessesary berthing and launching for as many who are coming. No doubt JK will have a heavy roll in this.

There is a choice of two slipways, one you pay for and one you don't, guess which one I am going to recommend? We paln a weekend of partying so every one is welcome from the Friday on and as for the leaving time I do not have a clue what the tide is doing on the 31st at the moment. Cardiff Barrage is usable at most states of the tide and a very nice marina just on the inside.

I will post more details latter and thanks for all your support.
Alan P

PS JK and myself are still working hard to meet the budget so if you know anyone who can help either contact me or John.
