Southampton Boat Show - Discounts?

Never been before but are the discounts available from the trade stands any good? I'm after a few bits... wondering if it's worth the £70quid fuel, 6hrs round trip and £20 entry fee or not.

Premature as i know it doesn't start till the weekend, but any past experience?

Link-2 Portable VHF
Drysuit
Gecko Lid

Sure i'll find more stuff to buy!!

IMHO the days of show bargains are over. Cheaper on line. We rarely buy anything at the show. Go & look touch play. Buy online when you get home.

I think if you've never been before, it is worth a visit.

You can still get bargains although it is generally on things you never knew you needed so whether it saves money is debatable.

It is useful having a shopping list of what you need and not straying from it. I tend to be sad and do a fair amount of research on what I want and how much it is before I go. Then you aren't disappointed to find the bargain item could be bought for £10 less over the internet.

There are a few bargains.
I bought a Crewsaver Erogofit LJ last year. £99 with a free re-arming kit. Best price i could find was £115 with £20 worth of rearming kit.

Musto BR1 Jacket £90 on the last day. Was priced at £109.

1 hour before closing i found a trailer guy selling off his entire stock of LED trailer lights for £5 a pair! Bought loads of those!

Cheers guys, still contemplating it. I'm up in Scotland the week after with the Rib, so it's going to depend on whether i'll need the weekend to get the boat ready and camping kit together or not :-). On a plus note pick-up my Drysuit yday from RoHo Watersports, Typhoon Max B, and i'm very pleased :-D
