Some 'occasional' extra seats for the Searider

A bit 'Heath-Robinson' but hoping this might be of interest to someone. Needed some 'occasional' extra seats in the Searider mainly for the kiddies. Main thing is they had to be in a safe position with handholds and easily removable without spoiling the originalilty of the boat.

The Searider has these fitted buckles on the floor for straps so the foot of the seat had to clear them. The rubber on the floor here makes a good non-slip surface.

The 'feet' are pieces of ply protected with Bondaseal and non-slip flocoat. The 'legs' are triangular aluminium 'box'section that originally formed the legs for a TV stand for a 90kg Sony CRT. The alu box strip section is from a floor to ceiling door system - I'm one of thoese who never throws away anything that might be useful...

Still trying to find some proper cusions but a closed cell camping mat rolled and flattened like a swiss roll (with contact adhesive rather than jam) does the job.

It's obvious to see from the pics how they are fitted - easily removed by undoing the two bolts to the console.

Pleased to say they are rock-solid in use and with 'mum' on the rear jockey it's easy to put an arm round the kids too. Moving about the boat is a little more restricted but everythings a compromise with boats I guess.
