No, the Rib made of stainless tube mounted on the polished wooden base.

Bottom right in the image along with the Golden spanner, Golden Helmet, and the Err Purple Helmet

I have more Gecko shells to make more trophies, plus I can always make another Golden spanner, but I'd have to look up who has the bent prop now.

The Bent prop "RIB tickler" one was my first trophy I made, I also made a best RIB build one, that I won back for Blue Venom. It's sitting waiting for another worthy build thread.

Just a little history lesson for some that are a little newer to this site:

Not so many years ago there used to be many like minded RIBers, their goal was to have fun and do something completely different from the norm. In this process they forged new friends from many different circles. People that they wouldn't have normally have met during a normal life. Unfortunately there was a Darker side at work....The Minority!

A number of succesfull cruises were organised. This resulted in tremendous interest by RIBers that wanted to come along on informal cruises (even John Kennett came along on a couple), where there was no pressure and just wanted to relax, cruising in company and eating good food in equally good company.

This was an Ideal oppotunity for novice RIB riders to tag along and gain experience in company, visiting many ports that they might not have normally have visited. I was one of those such people.

Obviously because of a large number of RIB (plus Carl) owners in the area it was felt that a number of people wanted to socialise outside of the cruises and became good friends. We would have BBQ's, celebrate Birthdays, well any excuse for a party actually.

Visiting the "Church" on every second Monday was born and has been very successful over the years (thanks Nasher). People have come and gone. Some have moved away from boating, others have decided to change tack and buy a Sailing boat or a hard boat. Many are still on RIBnet and have built very successful bussinesses. Some people just move on! But sometimes there is even new blood

Like all events, these need to be organised by someone. A driving force! We had one of these such persons/couples at the beginning. Someone that had the time to put to one side and move things along. The down side to this, is that the "Minority" feel undermined and left out and so try to act-up (you know who you are) for resons only known by themselves. For these resons the couple decided that they would move away from organising this type of event and did something different. A sad loss in my opinion as the following 2 years were much quieter with regards meets etc.

The one thing that has prevailed was the "Church" meet.

We do need another hands on trip Organiser, I hope history isn't about to repeat it's self. So come on "Minority" how about a change of name to "Majority"?

Seems a shame Andy, as the atmosphere from those who go on the monthly meet seemed to always rub off on others on here. Used to enjoy reading about some of the stories you lot got up too.
Could the couple not be persuaded to come back to organising things? (Not that Nashers not good at it)

No, I'm afraid they have moved on.

But I think and hope that 2010 could see a revival of something similar.

It doesn't matter who organised the get togethers. The thing was it was done really well (thank you Jackeens) and we had many successful years. The bottom line is that we are missing this sort of involvment and could well do with someone taking the bull by the horns and getting some venues and Ideas for next year.

The time to start is now!

... and you're still nursing a grudge 'cos they said they'd "rondayvoo" with you at the Isle of Man?

Still, good to see they went out in a blaze of glory.

anyway, I think Why Knot sounds like a good "Ents" Officer, that gig needs a "Duracell* Bunny" to go the extra mile.

I'm sure I can persuade Darren to get involved and help and I'm clearly more than happy to.

Nasher/Hightower - if you could give some steer and direction that would be good, I don't want to stand on any toes - so happy to be an extra pair of hands if anyone else is keen to take the role on.

I have to go into hospital early December and then off work for 6 weeks (nothing serious) so will have plenty of time on my hands to get a few ideas off the ground.

Emsworth/Portsmouth is probably best for us in terms of everybody else - unless people can be persuaded to meet around Chichester??

Maybe a poll to see what people think

bedajim - here's a yawn for you as we all know how much you love these "nice" conversations
