So who else likes Winter Cruiseing?

We tend to go out throughout the year, and are looking to do a Scillies run in Oct or November..and maybe a Lundy trip or two....good fishing coming up
With a good High Pressure system and the right Kit it can be a really special time to get out!
Just wondered who else on here does the same?

I love winter cruising, I use my rib all year round, some of the best days are during the winter as the sun can shine on flat calm seas and there are less boats around. Yes I agree can be some very special days indeed, it just means setting off early as the daylight fades in the late afternoon.

I remember a trip to the pub up from Cowes one january with a bunch from here, I had ice on the floor of my rib and on the tubes as I set off from poole. Still if you wrap up well your plenty warm enouth and the beer and food at the pub helped.

The trip I did in Feb was great, sunny, calm and chilly. You just need to dress for the weather.

Winter is the best time for cruising, especially when it's like a mill pond and there's ice on your seats. It's the only time we own the Solent

Correct and right - that pic was taken at Warrenpoint which is at the top of a tidal estuary

Hardcore!

Loving the fact that you're the only boat at any of the pontoons apart from the trawler...

That's because they can't get back in because it's frozen

I love Windermere in the winter. On a clear day with flat water the place is empty it's amazing to see the contrast between winter and summer.

Most definitely Winter cruising! As I'm typically sailing during the Summer, the RIB is only really in the water December to April, and I make sure to take it out any time I'm down in Poole, whether a hop to Solent/Weymouth, etc., or just a ride around Poole Harbour and up to Wareham. As others have said, you tend to have any places to yourself, and you get some wonderful quiet, crisp days to go boating.

Having just done Poole -> Penzance -> Poole during the Summer, think a trip for me to Scilly is probably unlikely over Winter, but will definitely be around the central south coast on various weekends.

No dolphins, but this was me back in January around Poole and Swanage, having just reinstalled the engine and drive.

I'd love to. I was a bit stuck last year because all the trailers sank in the mud in storage

We own the Solent, I like that.

Winter is the time for men and their RIBs and for boys to stay at home.
My most memorable cruises have all been in the Winter.
