slipways south west scotland

hi it seems I may be the proud owner of a sr4 shortly. i have a caravan that i use regularly at loch ken in Dumfries and galloway but id rather use the sr4 in the sea fishing ect is there any public slipways in the area Kirkcudbright ect is only 15 or so miles away .ideally a concrete slip as i don't have a 4x4 will be using my 1.9tdi caddy van.thanks

Have you looked eher: boatlaunch on RIBnet - I'm sure someone will be along with some local knowledge...

have just finished looking on there there is isle of withorn but that's over an hour from our caravan but its free there's one at ross only £7.50 but good for all tide states and two more at Kirkcudbright .the one at ross is looking favourite (unless someone knows of any problems there I should be aware of) anyway I am back up there weekend after next and should have the rib by then ill have a try out and see how I get on .thanks for your help tho

I have launched at Kipford before, it was pretty easy, but take notice of the state of the tide
as per Boatlaunch.

A little further away...Stranraer and Ardwell (Luce Bay) both have concrete slips. At low tide, they both open onto hard sand. Port Logan (Irish sea down to Mull of Galloway great sea trip, even over to Ireland, weather permitting, is another option, easy launch down concrete slip onto hard sand beach. Car will be fine on any of these.

I've had a walk down to the slipway this morning, it's a grass slope down to a rock beach but the fall of the beach is very shallow, I'm not sure if I could l launch with my Hi-lux without filling the cab!

I walked over the hill to Brighouse Bay this morning, the slipway at the caravan site (they call it Brighouse Bay Golf and Leisure Club) looks very good it's a sheltered bay with a wide slipway, looks like it goes right down to LW mark.
So enquired about public use, and it's £13 weekdays and £15 weekends.

Just had a week at the Isle of Whithorn with high tide reaching 7 mtr and the lows of just 0.5 mtr . I was able to recover at the low tide just combined with a decent empty car park a hose connection at the top of the slip and a pub next door....what can a man ask for..oh and it's free.. Result no brainer do the travel.
