Slipway Hope cove Devon

Just planning a few day away, Will be staying in the Hope Cove area and found the Hope Cove slipway on boat launch. Any one used this and got any thought, good or bad or is there a better one in the area that I have missed?

Will be launching a 6m rib from a 4x4

The slipway is very short and it just turns into a fairly flat beach at anything much after high tide, parking the trailer might be an issue, there's some pay and display parking around the corner. Having said all of that it's hard sand so if you don't mind getting it all a bit salty go for it - otherwise it's Salcombe!

Spot on,and very exposed to anything looking like a Southerly.Lovely place to visit when its calm,Pluss THE BEST Crab sanwhich in Christendom! (In the small Restraunt near the pub!)They do packed lunch take out which I highly recomend. We use Salcome and explore from there,Great cruiseing country!

OP, make sure you nip around to The Pilchard Inn at Bigbury-on-Sea, just across the sand on Burgh Island - well looked after beer and a friendly Dutch guy that runs the place.

It was a pita with a 4m searider when I did it. Salcombe is a much better bet
in my opinion.

I'd second that. One of the Oldest pubs in the UK,and unlike most you can tell! Well worth a visit! Old Winnie himself used to frequent it often when staying at The Burgh Island Hotel,has to be special to get anyone out of there

Just make sure you don't ask the barman to talk about his time in the Dutch Marines or to hear a few tunes off his iPod. Seriously, you will be there all evening! If the hotel is short of guests they do sometimes invite you around to the 'nicer' side of the bar with the open fire - about a 4 pint minimum purchase is required though.

Thanks for the info so far, it's looking like launching in Salcombe is going to be worth the extra effort then. What are the cost and parking like in Salcombe?

This is my first time in this area so please keep the place's to be and not to be coming, they are all appreciated.

For visits in the summer I usually phone up to book a space in the trailer park (for the car) and the trailer area for the trailer and then pay in advance. This means that unlike the large Batson creek car park, you have a numbered space to return to later if required (costs slightly more for the week, but worth it for us).

Will drop in as we pass Cookee but not till April so don't let the kettle get cold.

I'll try Salcombe next week and check the cost.

Yep!! Also where a wife took revenge by drilling a whole in the hull of her husbands Yaught,sinking it on it's mooring.She found out he was ''Spliceing the mainbrace'' with his mistress on board

We were down there when the police divers were searching the Yaught!..They did find the Husband safe (ish) and dry later.
