Should I use MEK or Acetone for Hypalon glue prep?
Sorry I previously deleted my thread because I found the answer on this forum doing a search. But I am now reconstructing my thread: 
The question was:
I have been told to use MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) for hypalon glue prep. I was wondering if I can use MEK or Acetone for this prep job. I was also told to put down 3 layers of glue per surface before sticking together. I am planning to use the 1 part Hypalon glue.

MEK for PVC, acetone or cellulose thinners for hypalon. 3 coats is good.

So one of the questions gone unanswered is: Is the 1 part hypalon glue strong? I'm using the Zodiac brand in the squeeze tube. Is it worth using? I want to put on a seam strip and re-glue the avon patches that have pealed off.  The only "under load" part would be the rear bottom side of the tube where it is constantly slapped from the water when running. I just want to replace the seam tape because its been tattered. I know the 2 part glue is stronger but how much more over the 1 part? Thanks in Advance.

I only use two part hypalon glue and find it sticks very well!, I would use two part if you could and if it's hypalon. if you are sticking things on to a rib that are going to be having a rough ride then surely you'd want the strongest glue you can get?
Also apply the two part with a paint brush which will give you a nice thin coat
There are professionals on ths site who's advice is better than mine so if they overide me then ignore what I say, I am definitely right about the MEK though

use the two part glue it gives a far stronger bond ,MEK can also be used for wiping down hypalon

Mr WJ Are you thinking Strait or are you still in a Tiswas from entertaining the missus! Boatsters boat is an Avon sr4 the glue he is using is Zodiac. Lovely Avons use lovely hypalon!

My boat is indeed an SR4!!! The glue I bought was manufactured and labeled by Zodiac but its for Hypalon I know that for sure.
I must say I do love my SR4 so I will be purchasing the 2 part glue. Only the best for my baby!!

Avon ok, zodiac glue, my zodiac was pvc so I was just checking in case the glue was not for hypalon. You still followin'?
