You can put what size shaft on that you feel comfortable with... all you need is a jigsaw.... and a little bit of knowledge....

The high transom offers the added safety required by coded boats, hence the current trend towards these. If you want a lower transom, there's no problem there.

I would, respectfully, ask that as you are asking these questions, it might be an idea to scrounge some advice (normally freely given.. most times you can't shut the "experts" the feck up!) prior to getting the 'ol saw out. Offsets etc?....

Cheers Jono, no offence taken or anything. Thats what the forum is for! I guess if you were to supply a boat with the middle bit of the transom lower (to take a 508mm leg) it would not comply with the regs?

You're another one with 3 blobs...i'm sure these have all appeared today. Its a conspiracy I tell you, a conspiracy!

Yep, we can do that... The "regs" are only important to those wishing to code their craft. To the rest of us, the transom height, or anything else on the craft for that matter, is a personal choice based on preference and availability....

aha, right...excuse my ignorance once again but what do you mean by coding? originally I thought you meant stuff to do with RCD and certification to carry a certain number of people etc. Now i'm thinking that its for people who want to carry passengers for things like rib charter, powerboat schools etc? Am I right? go on I am aren't I?!

RIBase
Some were sold for home completion, so might not have a CE plate.
