self-build rib

I have recently completed a self-build of a 6 mtr rib.It looks fantastic and is great on test in the water. Has anyone any recommendations for insurance cover as my regular broker says they wish to decline. I have a surveyors report and full project record of the build. Any help appreciated

I use Saga, they were happy I built most of mine but required a survey. Give em a try.

Many thanks JW I will post my project report just need to tidy up and put in date order I have had a marine surveyor check over and given green light but need a heel test Is Saga the same as the holiday people?


Just spoke with Saga who use M S Amlin and they will not offer a quote based on it being a self-build despite all info available

That's a bummer. There will be some company that insure self-builds, plenty of folks do it. Have you tried Practical Boat Owner (PBO) magazine? Contact them and ask if they're aware of a suitable insurer.

Try Craft insure online. There insurance has about 3 questions none of them about who built the rib
