Security marking

I see on many jet skis Datatag ID numbers. Do any rib owners use same?

If not, why not?

What security measures are recommended?

Im sure many do, I do, datatag micro dots all over the place plus the RFID transponders in a few places.

Reasonable cost, just hide them and forget them, acts as a visible deterant and can be used to recover items if recovered or to identify if suspicion of theft, use the transponders in engine area hidden and inside boat hidden, use dots in engine area and within electronic components etc.

2 letter and 4 number stickers are cheap on eBay

Datattag is only any good if the database is updated....PWcs are datatagged by U.K. dealers at first reg but no all owners fill in he paperwork not all dealers go beyond the stickers and lots of people never bother updating the registration or checking that the craft is actually registered to the seller....

If updated and engine or craft is stolen and later recovered there is a chance you will be contacted and then you can let the insurance company know they can go collect their engine........
