To be honest, I am still trying to learn exactly why this motor is so highly rated (at least by a few). I have now done several charters alongside a boat with one. Yes it's quiet, but not at speed, the economics are about the same or worse than Optimax 225 and yes it is lighter. This S/H motor is well over £9K second hand and I can get a brand new Opti for £8K or less. I know you can save over £1,200 in 3 years servicing, but I would personally be unhappy about that unnatural service period.

I'm not slagging the motor off at all, I want to be convinced about it before I consider a purchase next year.

I am thinking of buying an e-tec motor and would be interested in peoples experience of them. Anyone on here got one?
