Tony,

With out a doubt buy the Scorpion, The cobra as mentioned is ok for short trips in calm waters but is no comparison to the Scorpion. Again if you wait a bit your find the price will come down in winter and when you do buy it just take it by sea back to the channel islands,I'll run with you if you like for back up.

Thanks for the advice Julian. Its just the Cobra seemed to be good deal.

Buy the Scorpion. It is a much, much better choice for your requirements. You could go for another deep-V design, but you really don't want the Cobra.
