Searider windscreen

Can anyone advise me as to the height of the windscreen on my early searider (ser No 00161) When I got the boat it was in a chronic condition, bow tube looked like a patchwork quilt and the dashboard has that many holes cut in it that the plywood former was completely rotten. I am now in the process of fitting a new former and am going to fit a new wooden "skin" on the dash. The windscreen was missing along with the fixings so I intend to make the new screen from a sheet of 4mm perspex that I have in my workshop but do not know what height the original one was.
The hull looked as if it had never been cleaned (inside or out) but after half a day working with the jetwash and a scrubbing brush it at least looks clean if a bit faded. I hope to have the whole thing finnished in time to in time to get some cod fishing done on the Solway Firth before the end of March.

Searider windscreen

I live in the Scottish borders so it is a bit far for me to travel to collect it. I would be interested to know what the postage cost would be as that may be an option!!

Bear in mind that early SR4s had a different (taller & less sporty) screen design to the later ones.

The problem I have is that I do not know how old the boat is, the ser No is 00161 so I presume it is an early one but apart from that I have no idea of the year of manufacture other than it must be post 1970 as it has a GRP hull instead of the early wooden one.

If it has a grey coloured spraydeck or 'bonnet', then it's likely to be an earlier version, with the taller screen. Most of the later 'deluxe' SR4s with the lower screen had ivory coloured GRP and those with grey tubes had red spraydecks.

Google images for 'Avon SR4' will show you the different styles.

Were you able to find out what the postage cost would be? If you are unable to post I will have to go back to the drawing board and try and make one (would rather buy one) and hope I can get the perspex to curve without splitting.

just a note perspex will split, you need to use polycarbonate, badbaws screen is for a different boat than ours, i'll put that screen into stock and work out what its for later
