Searider deluxe. New screen

As per the title my recently acquired SR4 had a broken screen. Very common.

Amongst many other little mods and improvements I’ve been making I decided a new screen would be nice before our Scottish trip from Largs at the end of this week.

I bought a nice 4mm piece of Plexiglass of the appropriate size. Click image for larger version

Used the old screen as a template and cut it with my jigsaw. I also made the new screen a couple of inches higher. Hoping for a little more weather protection.

I sanded the edges and then gave them a smooth off with wet and dry before lightly flaming them with a blow torch. This gives a nice glossy edge to the screen.

Here is the finished screen. Not perfect but ok for my first go working with this material. Should do me for a while too.

Nice job, if you go on eBay you can get some 4mm edging if you want to make the edge a little more visible

Thanks

Found some edging on Ebay but I'm undecided if it'll look better with or without it. Easy to put in on and see I suppose

That looks really smart. Have you got some photos of the rest of the boat? Going to be refurbishing one of these in a few weeks - looking for inspiration!

Have a look on my YouTube page. There’s a video of it there. We’re off to Scotland tomorrow so should hopefully have more videos after that trip.

I may do a post with progress later as I’ve taken a few pictures as I’ve done stuff.

Good luck with your restoration. [emoji1303]
