In response to other threads I intend to order a tube with a flap made by Poly marine for the drain hole in my sea riders transom.Has anyone actually used this flap from Polymarine? How did you fit it in & with what adhesive, tools etc.DID IT WORK OK?

I'm not sure of the part number off the top of my head. Its a tube with a hinged flap at the end.Diameter of the tube is much smaller than the hole in the rear of the sea rider though.

Yeah, that's why i Asked the part no. ( I lokked at the website by the way, I am not enough of an Anorak yet to quote part no's.)

If it's too small then you are going to need a blanking plateand after fitting that I'd throw the component away and fit the more conventional expanding rubber bungs and tubes as shown on the same page.

The flaps are OK but if a bit of crap gets in between the flap and the tube it lets the water in, tht can be annoying on a searider as the flooding hull makes it sit low anyway and all of a sudden you have a very wet sandwich box!

I dont want to blank the hole off completely as have seen other threads about the water still getting inside the hull then it cant get out.The hinged flap seemed a good compromise with the front hole blocked off of course.

surely if you block the bow holes then it won't drain?

After much thinking & talking to different people I have decided to bung up holes at the bow with wine bottle corks & sika flex.Rear hole will bung up with 2 rubbers discs.one goes inside the hole other outside with a threaded bolt running through the middle.when tightened it seals the hole. This is made specifically for the purpose by poly marine & is pretty cheap as opposed to avons kit for the job which comes out at over £200!!! Hope this is of help to anyone else pondering doing this.

John give me a pm and I'll show you what I've done on my searider-you're only 15 miles from me. It works a treat at stopping re-filling and keeps the stability at rest.

Part I got from Poly marine is an expanding bung.Has a cap at the end which can be used to drain water out of hull if any should get in hull.Ring Richard at Poly marine as he suggested it.Part cost a tenner inc postage.
