Three, I think.

It's a surface drive really!

I would guess a Yanmar 300.

For interest, have a look at Hot Lemon 5 here: http://www.hotlemon.com

And there was me thinking it was a normal Scorpion RIB - no wonder it did so well stripped out with surface drives.

I think you've got your wires a bit crossed!

The open RIB which I think was HL3 had a single engine and Trimax surface drive. HL4 which is now Mystic Dragon has 2x Yanmar 300s with Bravo 1 drives, and is a standard Scorpion 10m Sports Cruiser, almost identical to Seahound 4. HL 5 is similarly powered, although I think with the later 315 Yanmars, and Bravo 1 drives again, however it's the stepped hull and lighter build that give the advantage. There are a few other tweaks and modifications to HL5 to enhance performance...

Actually I don't know how fast it was, although I would have thought 50+ knots was in the right area. Although I havn't been on the boat I have done a few channel crossings with it and it always look great.

Richard - If that was HL3 then there was a boat inbetween that and the first cabin RIB, either a 8.1 or 8.75 with a narrow engine bay. Drove that partly to France a few years ago along with Kevin Goulding

Think it HL3 went to Sweeden a few years ago ( 2001 ish ).

Cheers

Mark

no i know it is a singel engine and you can fit a surface drive to a normal hull like mine. the 10 meter scorpion is another level to mine. i just wanted to know a little more about the performace side of the first 3 Hot Lemons.

what is the reliabilty on the surface drives?
