Scorpion MkII

Perusing the Scorpion website it appears the MkII range doesn't feature a 6.5m model. Assuming this is not an oversight, does anyone know why it's been dropped from the line-up, if indeed it has? Given the limited production volumes and buoyant demand for their products I presume it's simply a case of Scorpion concentrating on the higher margin RIB sectors?

Graham stopped making a 6.5m RIB about three years ago - a friend has the last 6.5 made.

In all seriousness Phil Paul did have a look at the workshop and was also surprised to find Scorps are now only focussed on the top end...

He is thinking about 6.5 .

I did mean to write all that but I was suddenly tired

Apologies

No need to apologise, I was only winding you up - you know what I'm like!

That's a shame, a 'baby' 6.5m Scorp with a 200 Evinrude Ficht would have done very nicely

I know...

Nice quiet Yammy 4 stroke 150 or Honda tho'

Nice boats...but they're in a commanding position and very expensive IMVHO

Did you test ride the Revenger at Ribex with the Honda 150? Remarkably quiet and smooth, although I understand it's quite heavy compared to other 150s and the 7m Revenger certainly felt as though it needed a few more horses.

C'mon now, Phil, you know it has to be Scorp. It's the only one that'd look right behind your gorgeous motor.

I will definitely be changing in time, but I'm in no rush and I'm not experienced enough yet to gain the maximum benefit from a big RIB. I do want something I can trailer relatively easily, however, because I love visiting new areas. That's been the beauty of the little Avon - it's been all over the place this year and I'm still enjoying it!

Agree, Louise, a Scorp would be nice but I really think a 7.5m RIB would restrict me. As a sad, lonely bachelor I do go out alone quite often and I just assumed 6.5m would be the absolute maximum I could launch and recover myself.

What's the smallest RIB I can fit a 200hp to that'll do 60mph and handle a bit of rough water? Richard rates Phantom Evo's and I happen to think they look excellent.

Hi Phil paul here

my thinking also 6.5 max for ease of towing and storage. the honda and yami 4 come in at 217/220 ish so little or nothing in it. Sorps are too big as is the Revenger for us not too mention fecking over the top on cost.

But each to there own small 4/5 mtr is fun and theres nothing much you can't do in them that you can do in a big un.

paul
