scilly isle mooring

I am planning on doing a trip across to the scilly islands next spring/summer. Anybody know what is available in the way of mooorings for a weekend? Marinas etc.

Very Good sheltered vistors moorings in Hugh Town on St Mary's.
Give Geoff Penhaligan, the Harbourmaster, a call on 01720 422768. He is very helpful. We were on the moorings for a week, 2 years ago. Always managed to get a lift out to the boat and back from passing yachtsmen. Looking at your engine, you are going to want to take as much fuel as possible as it costs £1+ per litre and you have to carry it to the boat in jerry cans. Hard work on a hot day and dangerous due to numerous smoking day trippers wondering around the place.
Fantastic cruising ground and great fishing, I can't recommend it highly enough.

I am probably "just around the corner" in Paignton from you, and I am on a mooring in Torquay Marina, so why dont you give me a ring on 01803 559800 and I will talk you through the options in the Scillies.
Alternatively I might even come with you-I love the islands!!!

Essentially, you just pick an empty yellow bouy about 50yds off the quay wall, get a lift ashore and pop into the HM office to report. If you take a bouy close to the beach, remember to lift your leg.

Brian, is Cyanide able to lift her leg? That is enough to dry out?

As you can see on this "before" photo, not really.
The hydraulics lift the leg a certain distance (TRIM) and using another switch raise it to some more (TRAILER).
If the bottom was sand or mud you would probably get away with it.

hope this helps put things in view for you.

1 is the main quay, Scillonian berth, no permanent tying up, fuel, chandelry, harbour master, toilets, showers, met charts

2 tender drop of point for yachties in the corner ( dry at all except highest tides)

3 yellow visitors moorings

4 Town Beach - another landing place for tenders, rings on wall at the top,

5 Over the back is Porthcressa Beach. There's more fuel at the garage here which has longer hours than fuel service on quay, but its bit of a walk if you can't get a lift.
