We are delighted to invite our community to join us for the launch ceremony of our new Lifeboat, the Maureen Easton, designated SARA 14.

The ceremony will be held on Saturday 22nd October at The Riverfront Theatre, Bristol Packet Wharf, Newport. NP20 1HG.
We invite you to join us and Maureen's family and friends to witness the launching ceremony in her memory.

Refreshments will be availble for purchase at the Riverfront Theatre and there will be an opportunity for you and your family to view the Lifeboat and meet some of our crew.
A number of dignitaries have been invited, including the Mayor & representatives from the Coastguard and other agencies will also be present.

SARA 14 represents an important mile...stone for us, as we continue to develop our Search & Rescue assets for Newport in support of your community.

Following the ceremony, we hope you'll stay as we will launch SARA 14 to display some of its capabilities.

ON THE DAY:
10:00 arrival of guests
10:30(ish) Naming Ceremony
10:45 SARA Lifeboat-14 depart by land. (Launch at Uskmouth Sailing Club together with SARA-19)
11:15(ish) Return of SARA Lifeboat-14(by water acompanied by SARA Rescue-19) Demonstration of boat-handling and rescue skills.
12:00 SARA Lifeboats depart by river.
12:30 Final Thanks and guests depart.

Best viewing of the water-based display will be from the riverside terraces near the "Millennium" foot bridge and "Wave Sculpture"

SARA's Newport Station is an essential emergency services asset for Newport and the surrounding area, providing Lifeboat, Flood Response and Swift Water Rescue.
In 2015, SARA responded to 48 incidents in the local area, many life threatening, and our Newport station continues to grow to match the support we provide to the Coastguard, Police, Fire Service, DEFRA and the Ambulance Service.
