Sure is great, ain't it Dan?

So how do you know Salcombe? Tell us about where you are, what's your boat, etc... makes it more interesting!

I've been going there on holiday since I was about 8 or 9 I think (Although we are now heading to France - Better weather, somtimes out of 3 weeks holiday, only a couple of days are suitible for using the boat comfortabley) and my dad went there when he was a similar age several times.
I'm currently living in Leeds, and have a 14 foot Salcombe Flyer (not a Rib, but I thought that this looked like a great forum, and I'm also planning to get get a RIB to replace the flyer) with a 60hp Mariner 2 Stroke, Having moved on from a 12 Foot Dory, and that from a 10 Foot Mirror Dingy, with a knackered 2hp engine.

Nice one -Dan- and it sounds like you have a similar taste to us for holiday destinations. Good to hear that you're "graduating" to a RIB at last

Stay away from Watkins if possible, the word 'incompetant' would be kind.
I just discovered they have managed to strip the thread out of one of the engine chassis holes. Not to mention the random holes they somtimes like to drill in your boat.

Also watch out for the 8 (may have gone to 5) knot speed limit in the harbor, and small children going round in circles in the main channel in inflatibles, and you can't go far wrong

Dan
Dan - Watkins was sold last year and is now Blue Water Marine and is run by a friend of mine. Got new engineers and clothing and chandlery as well.

The speed limit is still 8 knots but try to keep the wash to a minum near moored boats and beaches!

Inflateables are a pain - usually tenders to bigger boats - parents tell little Jonny to go and amuse himself - they need to be sorted out soon before there is a serious incedent!

If anyone needs any help or info email me or send me a pm - missing again weds and thurs but back Fri!

I am staying at Woodlands, camping for a week (w/e 07/08/04). Taking the boat.

When I looked on boatlaunch it indiacated I would be paying:-

"Harbour dues are for a minimum of 1 month and range from 14.75 for powered craft under 4.5 m and under 40hp to 37.60 for powered craft over 4.5m and over 40hp. Charges may be paid at the Harbourmaster's Office at Whitestrand Salcombe"

I googled last night and couldn't find if there was a day rate anyone know?
