RYA Safety Boat course

I'm looking for a place on an RYA Safety Boat course some time in the next few months.

Any recommendations for places that do these well would be appreciated, and also a heads up on any forthcoming dates.

I did mine at the Scottish National Watersports Centre at Cumbrae on the Clyde, very professionally run course, just two of us on the course. Run by David Frame one of their senior instructors who also runs safety for all the big regattas run at Largs so a very experienced instructor. Highly recomended although a bit of a treck for you from the south coast but easy enough to get to by plane then train to Largs and then ferry and a fantastic setting.

They have a course in mid-March which was when I did mine, jolly cold

so take a dry suit as you will end up swimming, we ended up taking turns to sail and capsize the dinghies and then rescue them!

I could be up for doing this John- for no reason apart from why not do it .

Im up for it as well, just nearing the end of doing Yachtmaster theory at night school so was thinking about what to do next and thought a safety boat course would be useful.

So thats 3 of us, shall I enquire this weekend at powerboat training at cobbs quay in poole as I think they do it with a nearby watersports school, 3 people might be enouth to do a course. ?

would prefer sometime over next few months, or at least after weve got this crap wet weather out of the way but dont mind when really.

Individual price is £305, drops to £290 for a pair on the same booking, and £275 for three on the same booking. They'll also do us an additional 5% RIBnet discount provided we book two or more places.

boristhebold did you get anywhere with Powerboat Training?

Hayling Island Sailing Club is a RYA Centre of Excellence and offer full RYA Courses. They can also offer accommodation if needed.
Call 023 9246 3768 for info. They can provide everything or they can train you in your own boat.

It turns out that Lagoon Watersports are running one pretty much on my doorstep, so I've booked that one!
