RYA Safety Boat Course

Hi All,

I'm planning on doing this in a couple of weeks.

If PBs is passed inland, it is restricted so as not to be valid for Coastal.

Is this the same with the safety boat qualification, or as long as your PBS is coastal, is the safety qual also ok coastal?

Or, if I want to be a safety boat on the coast, do I have to do the course on the coast?

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil. My understanding is the coastal endorsement is driven by your Level 2 certificate: if your L2 is coastal, you can drive Safety boat on the coast, if your L2 is Inland, so is your Safety Boat. A 1 day coastal conversion will take an Inland certificate up to coastal

This is not quite the case. The safetyboat course just like the level 2 is endorsed inland or coastal. The only way you can get a coastal certificate is to undergo training at a coastal centre.

As already mentioned either course can be upgraded to coastal by attending a further day at a coastal centre.
