running a rib without pontoons
Greetings, I am new to the forum and have perhaps an unusual question, at least I couldn't find an answer searching the site. Can anyone tell me if the rib hull will float and can be run with low horsepower without the inflatable pontoons? The low profile shape would make a great duck boat and is in fact very similar to the shape to duck boats. Any thoughts? Thanks.

however depending on the make the stability will vary hugely, some boats sit on the tubes at rest

This is what I'm working with. I don't think stability would be a problem, just not too sure about adequate floatation. I think this could work pretty well. Hadn't thought about a punt gun. Hmmm...

Try it-it MAY work, though a Dell Quay dory type boat is a far better option for what you want. Wouldn't expect it to be stable, though you may be able to add cut down polystyrene pontoons if you can source some?
Shame you're not over this side of the pond as I've got a camo Avon Redcrest for sale.

IIRC, that was taken just after the boat was returned by the Test Monkeys following a particularly rushed crossing
