An ex colleague who spent many years in the RAF told me that for each Royal visit to an airbase a toilet would be built / rebuilt for the exclusive use of the royal visitor. Each sheet of toilet paper was discreetly numbered sequentially with a pencil and a sweepstake held...

I did. It was certainly a lot more successful than the last time I met royalty. At age 10 I was at a show jumping event and being bored my brother and I decided to play catch with a tennis ball. He threw it !ong and I went to catch it. As I threw my hand up to catch it, I inadvertantly punched Princess Anne in the face! My only claim to fame.

There is some truth in this. A few years ago, I was at the Newport Centre in Wales,
the day after the Queen had been to deliver a speech there.
The centre manager told me that a few hours before her arrival a
man showed up with a toilet seat, unbolted the seat in the centre manager's
toilet and affixed said royal toilet seat in its place.
After the queen departed he showed up within minutes and unbolted the
royal seat and reaffixed the centre manager's. Cant vouch for the toilet paper
supply, but am sure that was also handled the same way.
(crap... thats knackered my chance of a knighthood! )
