Routing the Bilge hose

After some ideas as this time I dont really want to drill a huge hole in the transom this time round. Also sourcing a skin fittnig with a long enough thread is not easy.

Other than the usual stainless P-Clips which look a bit ugly does anyone know of some nice stainless clips or hoop type fittings that could secure bilge hose up the transom and over the top?

I couldn't find a skin fitting long enough either.
Since I didn't want the hose over the top of the transom (its an XL and would be quite high) I drilled the hole tight so that the skin fitting would screw itself in. I cut one fitting with a length of 50% transom thickness and a second the same.
Plenty of sikaflex on both sides and threaded together into the transom until the butted up, smeared the sikaflex that has oozed between the two halves and left to set.
It is totally solid and unless you look right inside the tube looks like one piece. I was going to put an insert in but it hasn't proved necessary.

ps I would put a one piece in if it turns out somebody knows where to get one long enough but the existing job is good enough for me until that time.

i just tywraped to the engine mount, simple, cheap and effective and very quick

force four and other good chandlery shops do the brass skin fitting,(and then a white plastic 90 degree elbow,) which are 1/2 inch longer then the longest plastic skin fitting!! through the transom is really the only option, rather than a washing machine type exit out the back,
chris, i might have a entire spare if you need it,

What o/d and how long do you need? One of my suppliers has them up to 3.5".

Check out the fittings that Jono Garton had made up on one of the recent build threads http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23918 , it was a stainless fitting that went up and over the transom and looked really good

ASAP do skin fittings in 316 which are long enough to fit through the transom:

They look like this. The elbow and hose tail fit directly to the skin fitting and there's no need to clip the outlet hose to the transom

Nice one! I wish I found those the first time around...

DHDai which one did you find most suitable for your transom? I am going to fit the Rule 1100 pump which takes 28mm ID hose. I think I need to use a 1" skin fitting and it looks like you have gone for a 90degree elbow and seperate tail fitting? How come you did not just go for a 90 Degree tail fitting as I can see they do one for 1" skin fittings?

Something wouldn't work out with that arrangement. My bilge pump has a 3/4" outlet hose and I think the 90 deg hosetail to suit has a 1/2" BSP thread and the 1/2" BSP skin fitting was too short for the transom thickness, whereas the 3/4" BSP skin fitting is long enough (just about).
I also thought if the bilge pump should need upgrading I would only need to swap the 3/4" hosetail for a 1".

Parker use a nice looking pipe that goes over the top - looks a bit like a tap. Anyone know where they get them from, or are they their own design?

That does look good.

I think if I had to use a similar design, I'd use a flattened section of pipe over the transom top, revealing an oval instead of a circle. Probably have to be custom built, though, which would probably be a bit expensive.
