Yep....

We'll be out. Coming out of Langston Harbour

May not catch the start (well maybe the last ones) but will stooge around the Eastern Solent and the Forts and perhaps down to Sandown Bay or St Cats to watch them coming back. Camcorder at the ready.

Velsheda is staring at about 0720 so should be back about lunchtime.

The winds look light so the finish may be at Bembridge Ledge.

Call on 16 if you're about or PM for mobile no.

Planning to be out Bembridge way mid morning / lunch time to see the leaders.
BTW the Solent coastguard are not keen on Channel 16 being used for ship to ship calls. How about we keep a listening watch on channel 71 with call sign Ribnet group?

Look forward to meeting up with a few Ribnetter on Saturday.

Out of the Blue.

Can anyone remember what the drying times are for Bembridge harbour, fancy going there for lunch on Sat, and do not want to do Stuart (have to get the bus home) by staying to long as the sand bar appears.

Pete,

LW Portsmouth is about 1100 so don't think you'll get in there much after 0930 or out much before 1230.

Or, alternativly, in after 1230

Revise that - In by 1030 out after 1430 LW @ Bembridge = 1230

Hi All

My first posting, as at last I have procured a RIB, HURRAY! Thinking of head over to watch some of the round the island racing, have not been as far as the east side of the Isle of Wight (yet) as we are new to this RIBing lark. Is anyone heading out to watch the racing from Poole and would not mind some novice RIBsters as company ?

Thanks

Hi P,

Welcome to Ribnet, if the weather is nice I am taking my folks out for the afternoon in the Pacific. Hope to see you out there. Sorry can't escort you as I am sailing from Portsmouth. Watch the depth on Bembridge ledge though, even the RN can get it wrong occasionally, they parked a Submarine on it and when the tide went out the school kids walked around it.

Pete

Best to check with someone local as it seems to vary, although for a shallow draft boat like a RIB the access is surprisingly good. Takes a bit of confidence though as the channel gets very narrow!

Ch 71 it is...

I'll be out with my skipper Peter in his Scorpion, "Loose Cannon" leaving Lymington Yacht Haven sometime in the morning. Might go round the island if we're out early enough.

See ya!

Smile please.....

Right folks, having just spent the last 3 hours installing my new video capture card/editing software I shall be on the lookout on Saturday off Bembridge for some budding movie stars (RIBS as well as humans) providing I can find you amongst the yotties .

All those members of RIBnet who are lucky (or unfortunate) enough to be caught on camera will receive a free CD copy of the final director’s cut. (Can’t afford a DVD burner yet so you’ll have to make do with a MPEG copy)

So best get them tubes polished, them RIBnet pennants hoisted and them teeth whitened .

I also promise not to sell any “doubtful” footage to “You’ve Been Framed” (unless it’s really, really good )

[Keith , I’ll also report back on the usefulness of an Aquapac camcorder bag that I have borrowed from a friend for the day.]

Peter (I'm ready for my close-up now, Mr DeMilne) T

with apologies to KH

Wow, what a great day out it was!

We went all the way around the island, anti-clockwise through a fairly sharp chop, weaving our way through the thousands of yachts.

Did a call on 71 whilst off Bembridge but no answer

Will post a few piccies later.

(here's one to be going on with)
