Round the island race

I was thinking of taking my rib to watch the sailing boats go around the iow on Saturday morning.

Has anyone been or can recommend a good vantage point?

I was thinking of between cowes and Yarmouth as I will be going from Poole but don't want to sit about in the needles channel.

Cheers

We normally sit in Alum bay or Scratchells bay - dependent on wind direction etc, you get a blinding view from either vantage point - 100's and 100's of yachts running down to St Catherine's with spinnakers up is quite a sight .
Navigating Hurst can be interesting in the morning, gets busy................
Yarmouth RNLI normally sit in Alum bay ready for the inevitable grounding on Goose rock or the Needles. Cracking day!

Great morning yesterday watching the racing, challenging conditions off the Needles, ribs were getting chucked around like corks! 16 was very busy with multiple incidents through-out the day inc MOB's, dis-masts, sinking's etc A few of the smaller boat classes were cancelled even before the off due to the weather. Took the below pic as the leader went past yarmouth
