It's true-he did raise a lot of money for charity and shedloads of credit is due for that.

However,I'm confused about the apparent need to talk utter unsubstantiated bollocks on top of the huge achievement then selectively hiding stuff after the event.

Is that how he sold it to the sponsors?

No no , the total event raised 48 k for charity, no specific mention of any money raised by by the Mazda team .

Seems a terrible kick in the teeth to the other participants to read in the press that they " lost " a race they didn't enter, certainly not a very charitable move from TMS to his fellow " challengers" .

Ohhhhh..... right. I apologise to anyone reading this that did the RI2013 then, seems I was taken in by more typographical testiculating from the Capering Crusader.

ahh..just re-read that on the facebook page....
I think Tom was raising money for Great Ormond Street though.
She's done it. All in one piece, the boat handled brilliantly and the event raised 45,300 for charities; RNLI, Great Ormond Street & No More Traffic.

Added my comment...

Did any of the fellow competitors know it was a "race" and they were being "beaten" ?

To seek a positive spin at the conclusion of the event to satisfy your sponsors is fine but to claim a "victory" over colleagues and compatriots who did not know they were in a competition, did not have access to the same commercial advantages, had made far greater sacrifices just to take part and those who toughed it out over EVERY LEG UNAIDED, is just a hollow, self seeking sham and one from which the sponsors should seek to distance themselves.

Poor form. It seems to run in the family !

Now, about those 75mph winds.....

I'd be interested to know how he got hold of 'biodegradable fuel' for the boat as well. Didn't he fill from the same tanker as everyone else?
