Well said. Trying to source funds with a friend. He's up for it, we have the boat but not the funds. I reckon I'm a 1 in 5 chance.

Not sure where Hugo got his miles from but the direct route around Ireland is 685NM. Add a few bits in for harbours etc and 750NM is the magical number + the distance to float your boat. So in round terms allowing for petrols, oils you will spend around £200 + the entry fee. If you have a crew of 4 that works out at less than £450 per head for a circumnavigation. You dont have to stay in hotels, just drink a lot and sleep on the bottom of the boat! Alan P

750nm for £200 x 4? £800

At 1.50 per litre at 1.2litres per mile. It's more like a £1350 plus oil!

4 can't kip in a 6m boat!

Then the gear you need, dry suit and epirb and the accommodation say £40 per night pp 8 nights and the share of £595.

Even with 4 up its over £1000 each. 2 up I'd reckoned on about £1500 each

I'm 90% in!
4.7m Searider with a Merc 60 EFi and 2 x Coastal Pro suspension seats.
Intending to do it with Rick - my 15 year old son.

Main problem I can see is the weather! I don't want to be stuck the other side of Ireland in a sub 5m boat heading into big seas day after day.

My "Plan A" is to try and camp rather than B&B every day - after all, if the weather gets too bad to camp, the odds are it will be too rough to boat as well.

camping

When we had top banana (6m osprey) 2 could camp very comfortably under the cover.

I now do a lot (well generally one a year) of raiding on beach cats (F18, Tornado, what ever we can beg, borrow, steal) and we camp 2 or 3 up on the tramps and one or two in the ribtec 655 we use as support boat. Thames Raiders

Failing this we chuck a handfull of the £20 argos pop-up tents in the rib and you can be very creative where you pitch these. Pontoons have been known.
