Only thing which is suspending on my SR5.4 are the mitigation floor mats + the big seat cushions of my console

A600 Black

Thought I would post a photo of my new RIB in build which I will be used in the Round Ireland.

I have ordered my Shockwave ICE 2 console earlier this week and PSP are shipping this early next week. I will post photos of the boat being rigged in due course.

The deck has a special fuel entry from the bow section to allow for the new console to be rigged and to bring more weight forward. Once rigged this will be in a raised section with good breathers. Underdeck there is 125L fuel cell, with additional flexi-tanks on deck.

The rear seat has been changed into a large locker for additional storage and space on top for kit.

Hopefully if all goes well I should have her on the water mid-late May.

I'm looking at this now. Depending on fuel consumption the Yamaha F150 looks a good option. The weight over the F115 doesn't seem to be a problem. On a standard A600 it runs mid to late 40 knots. My boat has a lighter lay-up but beefed up transom and the ice console, plus a lot more fuel than standard. With all our kit the F115 might not provide the desired power.

SR 5.4 preparations / hull

Hi guys ,
Been at home in Germany last 2 weeks and spent most part of the time on the SR to prepare it for the RI challenge .
Since I decided to swap the Yammi for an ETEC 90 I used the opportunity to turn the hull upright after the Yamaha was removed .
I polished both sides of the hull which was after 18 years not the worse idea ..
It was clear that I will not make out of an old british warship the "Queen Mary" but the result looks not too bad for the age of the boat ..
I also used the chance to install finally the keel guard but learned that the bow of the SR hull is very sharp and I had to grind off also an inch of the spray rails .
The rest I will cover later with an piece of SS up to the bow eye .

Looks good bushrider. I could cry as I will not be able to take part in the RI2013. I would give my right arm to take part in this event however home life has conspired against me

SR preparation / motor swap

After the Yamaha was removed I started to install the ETEC . First problem - for the installation I intended to use the adapter on the flywheel which let the motor hanging absolutely vertical - BUT - I could not find the 3 suitable bolts for the flywheel ! Not M8 , not M8 fine pitch , not standard inch ... but 5/16 24 UNF !!
Worked previously on CAT machines and looked through ALL my old boxes with bolts - nothing ..
In the service car of my brother I found the die to make myself 3 bolts ..
After the adapter was installed the motor was ready to be fitted on the transom .
The ETEC comes with an 17 pitch alu prop which is in most applications too big . I ordered an 15 pitch Rogue 4 blade propeller and just hoped this one will make it ..

SR preparation light mast / VHF / EPIRB

I also finally managed to install a light mast to achieve the required distance between the side navi lights and the top light .
Used it also to install the METZ VHF at the highest point of the mast .
Will be used also for british / irish / german flags
And the BEST - I can fold it down and have NO ISSUES anymore to get it into my garage
EPIRB has finally arrived an found it`s place at the console - just in front of the side control box .
The flare boxes I also mounted higher - they were for my opinion too close to the toobs ..

SR 5.4 preparations / gauges / GARMIN 720s

Next I installed instead of the quite simple standard TACH + trim gauge the new ICON Pro gauges - the TACHO / SPEEDO / fuel / water pressure / trim .
They provide a maximum of information about motor / fuel / trip etc .. it works over NMEA 200 and can be displayed also on the plotter .
What I do not like - the ETEC 90 is not FULLY able to use the full range of NMEA advantage !
The trim sensor works analog and cannot be used with the ICON gauges .. so the analog gauge remains in the panel but requires a separate harness (((
Furthermore I wanted to have the water pressure kit which is damn expensive . I asked the dealer particularly for this kit and whether it can be used on the 90 . He said with such a self confidence that from the ETEC 40 it works that I had no doubts - until I tried to install it and found on ETEC owner forum that it DOES NOT ..
the other picture is not a turning signal switch
It is a Teleflex trim switch which I like very much since I was once in a heavy sea and was afraid to tak emy hand off the steering wheel to trim the motor
Furthermore I installed the GARMIN 720s - and with the Blue chart g2 vision charts it REALLY impressed me !
On the right side of the plotter is the place where I will install the hand held radio . There it is the easiest place to access it .

SR 5.4 preparation / water separator / fuel bladders /

Since the 90l inbuilt tank will not be sufficient for the daily trips I decided to add 2 AVON fuel bladders + a Zapcat 35l flex tank to the boat to increase the total tank capacity up to 170l .
The necessary D-rings I glued on the toobs .
The mitigation floor I installed already before .
For what reason ever I did not receive the ordered RACOR water separator . So for the sea trial I installed the Yamaha filter and just removed the Yamaha sticker
The Ducksback cover was actually oversized for the SR5.4 but covers now perfectly well the boat , the A-frame + the motor !

SR 5.4 + ETEC sea trial

After most of works were performed I decided to go for 2 days to the Baltic Sea / Rügen for a sea trial .
The ETEC runs fantastic ! The motor is not just very responsive on the throttle - it accelerates almost brutal ! Do not want to use the word "overpowered" but I still need time to get used to this acceleration - even with full tank and 2 100kg guys + gear on board !
I guess part of this power is related to the 4 blade Rogue prop ! This is the very first motor / propeller combination which works from day 1 ! The motor achieves 5300rpm which is ideal !
Only thing - I will move the ETEC down from the 3rd hole to the 2nd one .
In lumpy seas and when making sharp turns the prop ventilates sometimes ..
The ETEC also runs a lot quieter than the Yamaha .
About fuel consumption I cannot say anything yet cause the ICON gauges I received only after the sea trial .
Happy with a wide grin in my face I went back home - even with a couple of nice fish which came accros my way

I see you have an aux motor bracket on the transom,
will you be fitting an Aux for the Round ireland - and if so what size?
