Also it makes me appreciate the construction of lighthouses and I read some stuff about the guys who made those structures .. which endure those kind of events ..amazing

Aye bigmuzz ,no cats and jcb,s in those days ,LOL, it was crow bars ,hammers, chisels and a rope around your waist ,,,and a pork dripping sandwich in your pocket .
John smeaton of Leeds designed some of the better ones the 3rd Eddystone lighthouse for one, he was also the inventer and pioneer of hydrolic lime concreate and the father civil engineering as we know it today .
some of the hardest millstone grit stone for building lighthouses at that time also came from leeds ,,Grace darlings light house ,longstone at the farnes was just one of them ,

The Flandre was a wonderful ship to work on, an enduring memory is the fantastic chef tied to his counter in a F8 whilst busily opening scallops with a knife... remarkable. The skipper is the only person I know who can stand on the bridge in such conditions without a single piece of ash falling off the ever present cigarette

Newer ship (Abeille Bourbon) is much more stable, but covers the same patch on call. That footage isn't over remarkable for a Breton winter by the way.

If you look carfully you should be able to see my fins as I dive. My RIB is moored up behind the lighthouse

If anyone's interested, the footage on youtube (which someone's nicked) is from a film Chasseurs de Tempetes about the work of the Abeille Flandre, which is the French guard ship for the Mer d'Iroise based out of Brest (or was until replaced).

The clip shown is responding to a disabled tanker not too far from the coast, hence the foot to the floor speed.
