Hi.
I worked on Rona for a few years and never heard of anywhere called rona bank, maybe its a term the fishermen use for a trawling area. worth asking them if you're in gairloch.
From experiance, if you get 80% success off the top of skye i'd stick to there. I rarely see them in the inner sound.
the un-named island is garbh eilean, just so you know the differance, one means island of heather and the other means heather island. ha ha. true.

I was reading this post, and was just wondering could the Rona Bank be at the "Other" Rona? There are 2 islands named Rona on the west coast of Scotland. Rona just of Skye, and then theres North Rona about 40 n.m. north, north east of the Isle of Lewis. North Rona is right next to Sula Sgeir, and i've heard of the Sulair Bank, its marked on the charts (great sea angling grounds) but I've never heard of the Rona Bank either? Perhaps confusion between the two? Hopefully i've helped to make it clear as mud

Yeah, north rona was my first thought, but it's too far north to be a day trip from gairloch for paying passengers. would be a cracking run for Julie tho. especially with a good northerly running.

Oh yes I got my wish

Stuck to old faithful Rubha Hunish..... odds are even higher than 80% now!

Got some good video of one that came 5m off the RIB.

Moved to Mull now, checked out Fingals cave today - HUGE swell so was too tricky to go into it (and everyone else on the RIB would have murdered me!)

The new 'lairds' slipway is pants at Ulva.....
