The new Atlantics for the RNLI, what make are they, are they still Avon or are they newly designed just for RNLI use?

The RNLI are needing support to build new up to date stations for all there boats old and new! There are only around 7-9 stations that are going to be built! Queensferry lifeboat station is one of them in the Firth of Forth Estury, to help which we would the RNLI would appreciate please contact us via our official website!

The Atlantic 21 was designed by the RNLI/Atlantic college. The 75 was built by Souters on the IOW the tubes are by Avon on both boats.
I believe the 75's were simply a 21 just increased by 13%.

So I guess the 85s are an extended 75 , but with general tweaks all round ( + the bigger 115 yams on the back ? ) .

All I know is they are very impressive !

unlike the atlantic 21 of which some boats were used by the offshore oil/gas industry the 75 and now the 85 are i think solely used by the rnli, the 85 was developed as it gave better handling of the larger and more heavy 4stroke engines for the future, even deisel outboards were considered but current/power weight ratios were not enough ,the 115hp 4strokes give about the same fuel consump as the 75 fitted with 2 strokes even though the boat now weighs about 400kgs heavier and is about 5 knots faster ,also the acceleration is not much difference between the two boats ,,even a sheltered steering position was looked at but it was decided that the helm would have a better understanding of the weather conditions and read the sea better ,plus gives it more room for extra crew seat and radar and better room for stretcher casualtys,the constuction of the hull is used using the gurit system which makes manefacture quicker ,,,,funny the rnli developed the very large medena class r.i.b.with a wheel house in the 1970s and early 80s then decided it was too big ,so passed the tecnoligy to the dutch lifeboats who thought it was great , or so they say lol.,,,and yes its not just the boats that matter,, a lot of the boat houses are getting on a bit ,concreate only has a lifespan of 70 years ,,think we can give the crews /survivors /something to look forward to after a long shout in the middle of winter even if its just a hot shower ..mart

Didn't last 5 years with us, if I met the useless gits which fitted out our house and shed I'd knock hell out of em the robbing gits.

It is very complex till the cliff behind falls down and cracks the tiles in your changing room. This is my honest opinion, if the mod's want to edit it I don't mind. Our changing room room and house was a badly designed and built since day one, anyone who wants to contest this I will meet at the said buildings.

It is my undertanding that the Medina was a joint effort with KNRM and RNLI. The dutch then went further with the 60ft aluminium Arrie Visser class. Twin 1000hp jets and truly awesome when onboard. I did a few articles for RiB mag on the dutch boats and got to have a few drives so have a little knowledge. But whilst my daughter was out in holland for 2 years she was crew on an Arie Visser class boat, having been an ALB navigator in the uk and again now she is back here, so knows far more than me. Was out in all weathers, brilliant boat as far as she was concerned esp when compared to her Tyne.
The 85 where I am at the moment only spent a few week here before it went back cos of defects and its still away ages later!

think the big k.n.r.m boat visited the uk a few weeks back calling at whitby as it was undertaking some endurance run from the netherlands to the faroes, or someplace ,,,,with regards to your articals in the r.i.b. mag used to look forward to your down to earth articals in boat fisherman mag before it was taken over ,kindest regards mart
