Rigid Raider

At the risk of being expelled form the forum, I need some help regarding a mk1 Rigid Raider. We have just "Aquired" a mk1 RRC from another sea cadet unit, but it needs some work on it. I have trawled the net (no pun intended)for info to no avail. Any plans of the boat, parts lists or any spares loafing around would be very useful. We need a pukka stand up console and a engine the rest seems to be cosmetic work, due to an accident off Scotland last year the max engine we can have is 60hp not the possible twin 140hp as per the boat specs.

Cheers

Lee

Any help?

We have refitted two in the last year, what bits are you after?

The stand up console should be easy enough.

They are quite easy to get off in a hurry and not many hulls will take that kind of HP per meter of boat length.

I am trying to find the positives as we are brokering one at the moment, can you tell.

It'll be as flat as a turd with 60hp. A guy I knew fitted twin 150 Optis to one and that wasn't exactly hairy.

We have one at work, Originally made by RTK, 5,2m. Been driving one today!. The MOD use 115hp Optimax on them. We did trial one with a 135 Opti but it was deemed as being to fast (it was mental!!).

You can get very similar consoles from outhill mouldings.
and i have a put a photo on of our trial one, we just use it for testing various engines from 40hp through to 135hp. Oh yeah with a 40hp on ours it will do 20knts!.

Lol, they seem good value for money for the size of boat you get.

interesting boat, great to drive on flat water with a decent engine but rubbish with a prop guarded 60hp! However a good craft for safety boat duty at sailing clubs etc.

In the early 90s on the IOM I used one with a crude home made plywood centre seat pod, it did the job.

Good luck
