How do you plan to connect the knees to the transom (no particular view on my part just interested to learn) will there be any physical joint or will you just epoxy and glass them on ?

I have got some west system fillet to mix up with the resin to get it to take up the void between the ply and what is remaining of the transom? I am going to bolt and screw the ply to the old transom to ensure it is all tight while it sets?

From what I have read and seen from using resin and fillet powder mixed up to make a thicker epoxy glop it is very strong and the consensus seams to be that resin is the way to go and is all you need. I may well screw the knees in place to hold them while the resin goes off and if that is the case then I may as well leave them in place and just glass over them?

All the resin and associated kit.
Ply is getting delivered today.
Brother in Law is confirmed as coming to help.

So fingers crossed.

Just a thought for you... If you want a good strong filler, cut some strips of CSM about 20mm wide and tease out the fibres and stir them into laminating resin until you can hardly get any more to mix. Stuff the mix into your gaps and stipple and smooth into place. Much stronger than mixing powder into resin. Don't use a handful in a big gloop tho cos you may get a heat problem as it cures.

JW - that is a top tip. I am forseeing a use for this to fill the joint between the bottom of the transom and the hull. Thanks.

Chewy - Aye you can buy this but as it will take a few days, as I did not buy any.

now is it ethically ok to ask a small child to separate CMS into 20mm long strands

Its ok here to let your youngest brother glass down the inside of a console, so I can't see why not?
