I think I am being spoiled withe the quality of the Avon, there does seem to be some sh!te around Been looking at the Redbay boats, they look nice and I think they would probably make the Channel islands in the right conditions

I don't want a foreign boat, there are enough jobs lost in the UK to companies doing things on the cheap, and if they use cheap labour (well it must be or why not build them here, especially when you add shipping costs), then what else have they skimped on,c I will stick to British made thanks

Are Parkers any good? seen mention of them on here, thought they made pens

SR4 unless I have my wires crossed Parkers are made in Poland. If you seriously want a full British boat then again take another look. Many are made overseas and then brought to UK for putting together with full English teams and many mentioned here are great boats with great UK teams selling them.

I would go for test runs and then work out prices on the boats you liked

So, taking a deep breath and realising I'm setting myself up to be sniped at, here's my thoughts for what their worth.

Starting at the top

Ribcraft, Scorpion, Redbay - all seem very well built and well suited to Solent conditions.

Stingher, Cobra, Ballistic - great looking ribs with no real build issues save some annoying finishing touches.

Solent, Avon, Ribeye, Humber - good family boats that often perform better that they look.

Everything else - you tend to get what you pay for.

Please note this is only personal experience and subject to lots of caviats (ie it depends what engine it has, how big it is, how old it is, what you want to use it for, etc). Also it depends what you like.

I have a 8m Humber and I like that fact that the control cables run from the console to the transome in an "on the deck" trunk - it make it very easy to work on. But if you want a beautiful family rib, you probably want all the control lines buried.

Hope that helps?????
I THINK YOU MISSED OSPREY SON

Good luck finding an engine! Bit of a short sighted comment, we're not great at manufacturing in the UK which is why we get the Chinese to do it for us, expect most of what you own is manufacturered in asia.
