Ribeye 650 or Ribeye 600 ?

Bought this today. Sold to me as a 2004 Ribeye 650 but looks much more like the "Playtime 600" to me, so before I go bothering Ribeye UK can anybody on here clarify ? Thought the 650 had a square bow ?

Yes it will be for sale soon!

Any docs with it, it looks older, and it does appear to be a 600. Specs are here-
http://ribeye.co.uk/documents/RibeyeASeriesEmail.pdf
Most 650s went out with 150hp with a few exceptions, the beam on a 650 should be 2.50m and 500-600s are 2.30m beam

The 500s can only hold single jockey seats but 600s and 650s take doubles . Hope that helps

Heres the sports series specs

I believe the 650 has two rows of pod seats and a bench seat at the rear.

Yes plenty of service info and invoices but no original handbook. It's plated as 2004 as is the motor, so I'm not worried about that. The plate is a bit faded and I didnt have a proper look at it today to see for sure on the model.

Glad I bought it at a price based on being a 600

Yes the year is OK as there is a floor track for the jockeys and centre consol. The rear bench should be able to be lifted out from track. The jockeys look older as newer ones do not have front lip in front of cushion but are doubles not a single.
What engine size fitted 115?

Yes 115 from new. The jockeys are doubles but have only ever had one set of back rests fitted. They are Outhill pods too, so not original either

Here's another Playtime 600 (also for sale priced £7,995) we have in at the moment which looks identical in design to my eye, just a bit older design in terms of fittings and minus A frame etc

Pic 1 and 3 are the confirmed 600. Pics 3 and 4 are "so called" 650

To be fair they did offer Outhill jockeys . The 115 engine would suggest a 600 so without measuring I believe that will tell you, the beam is the give away and you can easily move around the side of consul on a 650 but tight on 600

Oh I didn't realise that

That's the confusing part. The 600 I know I have is tight to get around, the "650" I'm told I have has plenty of clearance either side.

According the the sales patter from the broker it measures a beam of 2.5m and 6.6m length which supports the 650 claim, I've not checked it myself yet though! I guess the best thing to do is line them up and see what happens

Musical boats tomorrow then

Another possible way is to look at floor space in front of consul up to anchor locker which I cant see here, The 600 is a small space and you get more on 650 providing the layouts were spaced as usual and not altered on the tracks

I attach on water 650 and on trailer for comparison. Boat age was 2004-2005

Your bow rise is more pronounced and note hull shape difference below tube with the wider chime

Doesn't the 650 have a funny lump on the keel at the back, also a deeper chine, looks 600 to me.

How come the tubes have no "ribeye" on them on the 600?

I'll post the actual measurements up tomorrow but I agree the hull looks different to that 650. Strange.

Not sure if tubes have been replaced via a different supplier or are original but my understanding is that it was requested for them not to be fitted. The boat was used as a sailing club safety boat so I assume cost was as big a factor as making it look low key and not so leisure looking. They are in very good condition either way!

It's going on the water tomorrow for a further sea trial so we will see what she's like.

Has it been retubed? Hasn't got all the usual blue trim, wear patches and ribeye logos that they usually have.

I'd get your tape measure out. They have never made a playtime 650. They do 5, 5.5 and 6m in playtime range which is same hull shape as yours. The only 6.5 they do is in the sport range along side the 7.85m. They both have square bows as you said and shown in C2's pictures. The sport range also have planing pads on the back 2 thirds of the keel and large spray deflectors below the tubes. Take a look at their website, the models haven't changed since yours was made.

Ribtec do a 6.5m which are now sometimes branded as Ribeyes but they have a different hull shape to both the ribeye models with a single spray rail.

Has it got a hull number you ring ribeye with and they will tell you straight away. Or get the tape measure out.

Yes it's Ribeye plated. As advised not sure if retubed or just ordered without the "ponce"

I know it won't be a Playtime 650. Looks likely to be the 600 but measurements will confirm. I'll put in a call to Ribeye with he H.I.N and see what they can advise too. Shame they don't post much on here, other than to sell but I know they are busy, plus they are very helpful over the phone anyway.

Can you not just measure the length? I thought the 600 was half a metre shorter than the 650 or am I being too simplistic...

Hello

It does look more like a Playtime 600 but to be sure do give us a call with a HIN (01803 832060 and ask for Anne-Marie). We don't post that much but we do read everything!

If we can help with anything else, then let me know
Ella

Thanks Ella. I didn't mean to suggest you don't contribute, sorry.

To end the thread, it's a 600 without question. All measurements match and having put it on the water today it performs like one too.

It's going to be on sale very soon so keep an eye out for it if your in the market for one.
