As for fitting, the guys at Scots suggest this is the way to do it, but I will give someone a bell at rib craft before I do anything.

Maximus, are you implying Douglas preferred ullman's when he tried them over his Scots or do you mean he wishes he got the wider Scots?
Why not ask Douglas yourself Mate and have a chat ?...Its a big investment either way!...and he's had Scots on his Ribcraft a few years now...And has also been on my Ribcraft fitted with Biscaya Ullman's numerous times.

On storage I have put Hatches in my Bases which work well...and always find ANY extra storage really handy.

well i spoke to ribcraft and they have only ever fitted one set of scots that they can remember and it was from new, not retro.

in an ideal world (i.e take it back to them) they would reglass a decent portion of the deck with the same fixings and then re-flow coat. however they did say they have had some experience with the adhesive and they could not get a bow fairing off when one was glued on with that stuff, had to hang the boat up by the bow and hammer metal wedges in to get it off, even then it didn't come off without a fight.....so i'm comfortable the glue would work.

ullmann take a similar approach with these-

i will see if i can contact Douglas for some info on his and i'll take a trip down to largs for a look at how some are attached to the deck.

if anyone is out in the forseeable with some suspension seats and wouldn't mind a passenger please drop me a line.

They'll have been to Sula. I would take the time to speak to Douglas/GeoffW before parting with your money. There's probably a good reason that Ribcraft have only ever fitted one set of Scots & now only fit Ullmans[emoji848]

They don't only fit ullman's as they gave me prices for everything in round numbers.

It couldn't have been sula as they said they took them off after about a year for that owner.

Can vouch for the sika flex adhesion when I took my original seat bases out full day's work I had to cut with a multi tool then hard wood wedges to remove didn't use steel as sold bases without damage.
MDS sheets will have pull off pressures of sika

Yes they are scots seats, I knew I seen some as I said. The handrail you see is my boat and i took that video!

Douglas gave me some good info along with the pros and cons of his.

What I don't know is how different his are to the new ones, his are effectively 1st gen-ish so things have changed design/spec wise.

Thankfully humour in the boating industry is alive and well, someone was laughing when pricing these seats up. Nearly 4k for a single ullman...

What sort of price did they (Ribcraft) quote for the re-furbed Ex Military Ulmanns?....may be of interest to some on here.
I think you're definatly right to let the Pros retro fit any shock mitigation seats you end up with

Any fixing of this type will only be as good as the substrate it's fitted into. If you haven't got proper embedded matrix fixings, I think Sika 291 is the way to go. Even then, it's only as good as the preparation & substrate.

I don't know what a matrix fixing is? It's a foam cored deck to hold seats. I don't want to grind up and make a mess if possible. Was gonna locally remove core, epoxy fill and drill and tap till I saw these fittings

I am going to use the same method as above glued in, the deck will fail before the fixing let's go.

I'm impressed with the strength of sikaflex.

I've removed all mechanical fixings from my console leaving just the adhesive keeping the console fixed down. I lifted the whole boat off the trailer when I tried to remove the console by lifting it with my digger.

I even tried shaking it a bit but it stuck solid.
