Ribcraft 7.8 Maverick Project

Thanks for the comments - really appreciated....some final prep shots whilst I was done at factory Wednesday/Thursday...

Fairlead with extra reinforcment - this is a really nice engineered unit..., fantastic finish on keel guard, auxillary engine bolted next to big daddy, and some fianl tweaking with electronics...the attention to detail is awesome - all electronics masterley laid out, thought through, sealed up and labelled - really thorough...

Two auto bilge pumps which beat the manual on/off ones I'm used to!!

When this was done they wheeed her our to wet test engine and run on idle for an hour....then the cleaners set to her..

Im having a problem uploading images to forum so I'll try again in morning - I've only just got in from todays unbelievable sea trials so I will upload latest news and final shots of Maverick later on over weekend....!!!

Maverick Sea Trial

What a two days! Been at factory since wednesday night working with the guys flat out to sort out final stage of Maverick - and Friday went out at Weymouth to conduct sea trail...

What can I say - quite choppy water with big swells about three miles out (all new water to me) and she handled like a dream ... I'm just lost for words ... took everything we threw at her and Matt from Ribcraft really opened her up in the rough stuff (still keeping revs to under 3/4 k and only blipping to 5k occassionally as we are still running engine in)..

She gets on the plane at about 3k and is bomb proof....all electronics worked, engine was a dream, Ullmans worth every penny (well not quite but they are superb) ....

We took readings at 1k, 1.5k revs etc up to 5k (max is 6+ on the 300) which gave us a top speed of around 48-52n at 5k in rough stuff - still more to come .. OH YES !! This was my first time out in a 7.8 and you feel you could take on anything !!

Nothing came loose and we thrashed about for a good two hours worth (or 60ltrs ) take your pick - I just can't fault the RIB at all - so chuffed...

Some more shots of sea trail - i did manage to get some video before shoving it away before it went overboard - so I'll try to work this out to YouTube .....coupe of final shots to follow then I'm done....Thanks for all the comments from everyone and I appreciate the fact that this has been a factory build (not a self build or refurb project) but nonetheless an important one for me....

The guys at Ribcraft have been superb. Simply superb. My thanks to Jason and Dorian, and Matt and Mark - they have delivered everything I asked for, the attention to detail is superb, they really know what they're talking about and the build quality awesome....

Thank you to all involved and hope you enjoyed the thread ..

Coped well today. We were out with a dodgy TPS so could only manage 4400 revs however Maverick was hurtling around in the swell off puffin. Very nice boat sir. Thought id show the pics for you.

One of us at beaumaris pier getting bacon baps to warm up too.

Cheers JSP, you should come down sometime!! Want to see that 115 of yours fly!

Ronin said to me today about himself before it tipped it down, "All the gear but no idea"

When we hit the rain we though "All the gear, right idea!"

The suspension seats, full waterproofs and visors would have been a bonus!! Stinging face at 30mph. Plus a 300 would be nice too!!

It's on the cards mate.
You may have to smash the piggy bank for suspension seats and the 300. But a drysuit and a helmet are in reach. Or even try a Save phace gimp mask. I use one and it's been a good buy.
